We are supportive of the Sunshine Coast Botanical Garden Society and the David Suzuki Foundation Butterfly Way Project.
Community Involvement:
- We are developing a garden in Cowrie Lane, and are involved with the Sechelt Downtown Business Association in helping the business owners and tenants to beautify their storefronts.
- Some of our members are Butterfly Rangers and have been working on developing Butterfly Gardens in private and public spaces in Sechelt with the help of Club members and other volunteer groups such as the Rotary Club.
- We have been active in bringing renewal to the gardens at the Sechelt Arts Centre, Shorncliffe Extended Care and Totem Lodge. We have worked with the District of Sechelt to beautify the rock wall by the Aquatic Centre.
- We have donated funds to Sechelt Elementary Schools to help support their garden programs.
Social Activities
- Covid 19 seriously impacted our ability to hold social functions. Our first group event since Covid restrictions started was a lovely and fun Strawberry Tea on June 12, 2022 at the Botanical Gardens.
Prior to Covid, we held a Christmas Luncheon annually with good food, entertainment, door prizes and socializing with friends and new acquaintances. We have started meeting again and organizing more activities offering opportunities to socialize – check out the activities pages for details.- The Sechelt Garden Club not only offers the very best in gardening, but also fun, laughter and camaraderie.
