Bursaries

In order to support the Sunshine Coast Community, the Sechelt Garden Club will be offering two annual bursaries. Applicants for both bursaries must be members of the Sechelt Garden Club. Prior to receiving the money successful applicants must sign a release stating that all monies received will be returned to the Sechelt Garden Club if the course is not completed successfully.

Master Gardener Basic Training Program Bursary

The first bursary is for a student of the Master Gardener Basic Training Program. The successful applicant will receive a cheque for $750. toward their registration fee in the Master Gardener Training Program. Applicants must be residents of the Sunshine Coast. Deadline for receipt of applications is November 17, 2026. Successful applicants will be announced at the November Annual General Meeting of the Sechelt Garden Club.

Sechelt Garden Club Bursary

In addition the Sechelt Garden Club is pleased to announce an annual $750. bursary towards the cost of tuition at an accredited British Columbia educational institution. Eligible courses include horticulture, agriculture or forestry. The course may be on-line, in-person or a combination. The course must begin in the current year and you must provide proof of enrollment in the course with your application. Deadline for receipt of applications is August 1, 2026. The successful applicant will be announced at the September General Meeting of the Sechelt Garden Club.

University of Northern BC multiple undergrad and graduate programs in horticulture
University of the Fraser Valley Bachelor of Agricultural Science with a Horticulture major
Camosun College, Victoria full-time 10-month horticultural technician certificate
Thompson Rivers University, Kamloops 35-week full-time Foundation Program, which is the equivalent of levels 1 and 2 of the landscape/production horticulture
Vancouver Island University, Nanaimo 12-month horticultural technician certificate program
Pacific Horticulture College certificate and apprenticeship programs
